Cryptocurrency project World is launching its biometric identity verification system in the United States, starting in six cities: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco. The company plans to deploy 7,500 eye-scanning ’Orb’ devices nationwide by year-end, quadrupling its global footprint.

Co-founder Sam Altman emphasized America’s role in leading innovation during the ’World At Last’ event in San Francisco. The expansion aims to establish what the company calls ’the largest human-centered identity and financial network.’
